1. Purpose
This guide provides editors and guest editors with a consolidated overview of their responsibilities, resources, and governance expectations across all journals.
2. Editorial Roles
Editor-in-Chief: Ultimate academic responsibility.
Associate Editors: Manage workflow and recommendations.
Board Members: Support review and strategy.
Guest Editors: Manage special issues under EiC supervision.
3. Governance & Accountability
Editors operate under the Editorial Governance Framework and Ethics Framework.
Accountable for: Editorial Quality, Timely decisions, Ethical compliance, and managing retractions.
4. Workflows
Follow documented workflows for: Screening, Reviewer selection, Revisions, COI management, and Final decisions. See Editor Training Manual.
5. Special Issues
Require formal proposals, clear scope, and vetted Guest Editors. Must follow Special Issue Governance Policy to minimize risk.
6. Performance Expectations
Evaluated on: Time to decision, Quality of management, Ethical compliance, and Responsiveness. Underperformance may result in removal.
